Flying Wild Alaska Soundtrack on iTunes July 6, 2012
For the First Time Ever Discovery’s Global Music Services Team Releases a Full Soundtrack to iTunes. Discovery Channel’s Flying Wild Alaska takes viewers to the isolated rural inhabitants of the Bering Sea coastline to join the Tweto family and their company of top pilots who battle -40 degree temperatures and hurricane-like winds to provide reliable transportation across Alaska. Music is one of several key elements of production used to complement each episode's story lines, environments and emotions; ultimately contributing to a viewer's overall experience.
Discovery Music Source takes you behind the music of Flying Wild Alaska. From the producers to the music supervisor, the process for scoring a show touches many. Executive producer DJ Nurre and Music Supervisor Matt Kierscht searched local Alaskan radio stations, the internet, small record labels and reached out to artists for recommendations to come up with the best score possible to represent Flying Wild Alaska.
This is where Discovery Music Source began a project to create a full soundtrack for iTunes based on the artists featured in the show. The team acquired six original songs co-written by series composer Doug Bossi and produced with the local artists, including three tracks by Pamyua, a four-member group from Anchorage Alaska and three songs by Peand-eL, a Greenland based pop/hip hop artist. The season three soundtrack is rounded out with four additional tracks from the show’s score, all reflecting the distinct Inuit sound that sets the mood of the show.
